Abstract

Structural properties of lithium niobium tellurite glasses of the composition (1-x)TeO2 – (x)LiNbO3 with x = 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3 have been investigated using total neutron diffraction and reverse Monte Carlo modelling. The glasses have been prepared using splat quenching method with starting material LiNbO3 and TeO2. Neutron diffraction have confirmed the amorphous nature of these glasses. Reverse Monte Carlo (RMC) modelling of the experimental data have been performed to calculate the 3-dimensional atomic configurations. The 3-D configurations have been analyzed to calculate partial atomic pair distribution functions, co-ordination number distribution, bond angle distribution as a function of tellurite concentration.
