Abstract

Reversal-learning paradigms are key to the translational study of cognitive flexibility in OCD and other psychiatric disorders. Here we address the question of whether true reversal deficits involving perseverative behavior can be demonstrated in OCD under certain conditions by comparing a novel deterministic learning procedure with probabilistic reversal in a large sample of both medicated and unmedicated patients. We additionally investigated the role of serotonin-reuptake-inhibitors (SSRIs), uncertainty and punishment through behavioral and computational analyses.
