Abstract

Revalidation will test whether doctors treat patients with dignity, and those that don’t should face disciplinary action or even dismissal, says the Commission on Dignity in Care. On 29 February the independent commission, which was set up by the NHS Confederation, Age UK, and the Local Government Association, launched a report, Delivering Dignity, which sets out 48 recommendations to help ensure that older patients are treated with dignity and respect in hospitals and care homes ( BMJ 2012;344:e1538, doi).
