Abstract

Low-contaminated wastewater from the food industry has a high potential for reuse. Horst Chmiel,Valko Mavrov, and Eric Belieres from the University of Saarland, Germany describe how vapour condensate from milk processing can be reused as boiler make-up water, by using a process combination involving pretreatment (cartridge filtration and UV disinfection) and two membrane stages (nanofiltration).
