Abstract

Introduction: The relatively low return to sport rate (~50%) after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) is well-established – not everyone recovers completely. Over one-third of people report ongoing symptoms at 2-6 years post-ACLR. Sport and physical activity participation in young adults with ongoing symptoms after ACLR is not known, but may impact general health outcomes (e.g., weight gain, co-morbidities). This study aimed to describe return to sport and physical activity in young adults with ongoing symptoms 9-36 months post-ACLR and to determine associations with amount of rehabilitation completed and quality of life (QoL).
