Abstract

Return migration is a calculated strategy and natural outcome of successful experiences in the host destination during which migrants met their goals and expectations. Rural youths’ return migration reflects considerable changes in the structural and functional system of rural areas, and when youths returned to rural areas, they may not have many alternatives to take up as an occupation other than agriculture and allied activities for their livelihood. The study was taken in purposively selected southern India with 180 return migrated rural youths. Low salary (RBQ 84.69) and exploitation by the others (RBQ 78.26) were the two most important push factors of return migration. To continue the family occupation (RBQ 78.43) and free in terms of decision making (RBQ 71.10) were the most significant pull factors, which influenced the rate of return migration. Aspiration of youths toward agripreneurship development was that the majority (53.89%) of the youths had a medium level of aspiration; however, 30.00 percent and 16.11 percent of youths had a high and low level of aspiration, respectively.
