Abstract

The Transmissible Venereal Tumor (TVT) is a neoplasm contagious and sexually transmitted, also known as infectious sarcoma, venereal lymphosarcoma, and Sticker Tumor. The general objective of this article was to verify the occurrence of TVT cases in dogs in the city of Dourados, in the State of Mato Grosso do Sul, in relation to gender, age, areas affected and cytology. The results showed a higher prevalence in females 116 (67%) than males 57 (33%), adults and in relation to the location, presented a greater occurrence in the genital region, followed by other localities. In cytology, the presence of round cells with round nucleus, some in the periphery, containing loose chromatin and evident nucleolus. Thus, it is important to emphasize that prevention campaigns should be performed with the purpose of clarify to the owners the importance of not let loose animals on the streets, as they act as potential reservoir for TVT.
