Abstract

The article attempts to analyze the stages of the formation and development of the cooperative movement in Russia. The cooperative movement in Russia is one of the essential sectors of the economy in which the most important activities are carried out to meet the needs of the rural population. Consumer cooperation in Russia has almost two centuries of history. During this period of its diversified activity, both positive and negative trends are clearly visible. However, despite this, consumer cooperation has maintained its identity, regardless of political and economic changes in the country. At present, consumer cooperation in Russia is a diversified economic organization integrated into a market economy, which does not exclude its fulfillment of a significant amount of social functions.
