Abstract

To the Editor: Superficial fungal infections in children are common, with significant impact on quality of life.1,2 Terbinafine is frequently prescribed for its antifungal coverage and high cure rates.3 It is well tolerated in adults, with low rates of abnormal laboratory test results and adverse events and few drug-drug interactions.4 There are no guidelines for laboratory monitoring in children prescribed systemic terbinafine.3 Our objectives were to investigate the prevalence of abnormal laboratory test results in children prescribed systemic terbinafine for superficial fungal infections.
