Abstract

Four of 310 patients (1.3 per cent) who underwent retroperitoneal lymphadenectomy for germ cell tumor of the testis at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) between July, 1971, and July, 1978, had incidental finding of horseshoe kidney. The management of these 4 patients is presented, with specific reference to the surgical technique of retroperitoneal lymphadenectomy. Retroperitoneal lymphadenectomy can be performed by adequate mobilization of the renal isthmus without the need of its division.
