Abstract

Retroperitoneal fibrosis is an extremely uncommon diagnosis in children. We report on a child with histologically confirmed retroperitoneal fibrosis that clinically mimicked recurrent leukemia. CASE REPORT A 7-year-old boy presented with acute lymphocytic leukemia in clinical remission 5 months aRer induction chemotherapy with methotrexate, vincristine and prednisone. Additional maintenance chemotherapy included doxorubicin and L-asparaginase. He did not receive radiation therapy. Persistent left flank pain and microhematuria prompted renal ultrasound that demonstrated left hydronephrosis. Physical examination revealed costovertebral angle tenderness without rebound.
