Abstract

Bronchogenic cysts are rare benign congenital anomalies representing abnormal budding of the embryonic foregut ventral segment. Histologically they are typified by cilia lined epithelium with focal areas of hyaline cartilage, smooth muscle and bronchial glands. Bronchogenic cysts occur predominantly in the mediastinum and less frequently in the pulmonary interstitium.1 Retroperitoneal variants are exceptionally uncommon.2 We report a case of a retroperitoneal bronchogenic cyst that radiologically and clinically mimicked a pheochromocytoma.
