Abstract

Open reduction and internal fixation of the condylar fractures of the mandible are seldom carried out even when it is indicated. The basic reason for this is the complexity of the anatomical structures in the condylar region and the fear of postoperative morbidity especially the facial nerve palsy. The retromandibular transparotid approach though it is technically demanding gives an excellent exposure to the fracture site with minimal morbidity. This paper discusses the outcome of transparotid approach carried out for the patients.
