Abstract
Progressive retrograde amnesia was noted in four football players who, after concussion, had definite post-traumatic confusion but knew the immediate preconcussive event. They then lost this retrograde memory over a period of a few minutes. Apparently the fixation of short-term memory requires more than rehearsal and is interfered with by the continuing effects of a concussive injury in the post-trauma period.
