Abstract

Introduction: Since 1/2008 we implanted the Jarvik-2000-LVAD as an axial-flow pump in 12 NYHA III/IV-patients (bridge-to-transplantation: 6/destination therapy: 6), because Jarvik-2000 has innovations like small size (90g/20cc), intraventricular position (no inflow-conduit), intermittent-low-speed, retro-auricular-power-supply and more simple implantation/explantation than Novacor/Berlin-Heart (BH). We compared the retro-auricular-(G1/n=9, 4 as destination therapy/alternative-to-transplantation) with the abdominal-power-supply-group (G2/n=3).
