Abstract
Some remarkable rhetorical statements were developed around the relic of the True Cross (Vera Cruz), deposited in the church of Marmelar, based on the goal of creating a memory of some miracles that took place in medieval times. From its projection, this commendary of the Hospitallers reflects some concepts from the Latin East and the crusade environment, backgrounds in which the Holy Cross was considered the most powerful symbol of the Christendom. The cult of this relic and its historical promotion was ranging between the evocation of its devotional power and its sociopolitical appropriation.
