Abstract

A careful analysis of a co-authored article entitled “Vibration Response of Rotating Mechanical Systems Using Experimental Techniques and Artificial Neural Networks,” by Taplak H., Uzmay I., and Yildirim S published in Experimental Mechanics in 2005 (Vol. 45, No. 3, pp 259–269, 2005, Corresponding author: Taplak H.) shows extensive similarities with two other articles published by Uzmay I., and Yildirim S., with other coauthors in Mechatronics (Kalkat M, Yildirim S, and Uzmay I. Design of Artificial Neural Networks for Rotor Dynamics Analysis of Rotating Machine Systems, Mechatronics, 2005; 15(5), 573–588. Corresponding author: S. Yildirim (Retracted)) and International Journal of Rotating Machinery (Kalkat, M, Yildirim S and Uzmay, I. Rotor Dynamic Analysis of Rotating Machine Systems Using Artificial Neural Networks, International Journal of Rotating Machinery 2003, 9(4), 255–262. Corresponding author: M. Kalkat). Given the duplication of content described above, the Experimental Mechanics article in question is being retracted. We apologize to the readers that this was not detected during the submission and review process during 2004–2005.
