Abstract

  The above article from the Journal of Bone and Mineral Research, published online on 3 November 2008 in Wiley Online Library (wileyonlinelibrary.com) and in JBMR Volume 24, Issue 3, pages 411-424, together with its accompanying Erratum, published online on 18 October 2013, has been retracted by agreement between the journal's editor-in-chief, Juliet E. Compston, the authors’ institution, Indiana University, and Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The authors have requested the retraction based on their acknowledgement of concerns regarding the images used within the publication which could not be verified due to a subsequent loss of raw research data.
