Abstract

Abstract Two novel mixed-ligand coordination polymers have been assemble in the aqueous medium through utilizing the 5-(3,4-Dicarboxylphenyl)picolinic acid (H3dppa) as the tricarboxylic acid block of picolinate and phthalate functionalities, and the chemical formula for the two prepared compounds are {[Co3(μ-dppa)2(μ-1,4-bpb)2(H2O)6]·4H2O}n (1, 1,4-bpb = 1,4-bis(pyrid-4-yl)benzene) and {[Cu3(μ4-dppa)2(phen)2(H2O)2]·4H2O}n (2, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline). Magnetic investigations have indicated that there is antiferromagnetic coupling between neighboring metal ions in the two compounds. For the treatment of purulent meningitis, the Colony-Forming Unit (CFU) numbers of the Escherichia coli (E.coli) in the infected mice was determined with dilution coating plate assay and the protein-encoding genes rpoD and rpoA relative expression in E. coli was detected by the real time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction.
