Two novel Cd(II) coordination polymers which are [Cd(5-EtOip)(4,4′-bipy)] n ( 1 ) as well as [Cd 2 (5-BenOip) 2 (4,4′-bipy)(H 2 O) 2 ] n ( 2 ) (5-EtOH 2 ip = 5-ethoxybenzene-1,3-dicarboxylic acid, 5-BenOH 2 ip = 5-(benzyloxy)benzene-1,3-dicarboxylic acid, 4,4′-bipy = 4,4′-bipyridine), whose synthesis was conducted via the hydrothermal reactions of 5-substituted isophthalic acid, 4,4′-bipyridine and Cd(NO 3 ) 2 •4H 2 O. In addition, we also explored the luminescence features and photocatalytic characteristics of 1 and 2 . Meanwhile, their treatment and application values on children bronchopneumonia was estimated and corresponding mechanism was explored as well. Firstly, the inflammatory cytokines levels released into the respiratory secretions has been evaluated through ELISA detection kit. Next, the activation levels of the NF-κb signaling pathway were measured by real time RT-PCR. The binding mechanism between Cd-complex and the chosen receptor protein has been demonstrated by performing molecular docking simulations, where we found that only the carboxyl group on Cd-complex has the capability to be interacting with surrounding active sites.
