Abstract

Towards the transverse seismic problems of asymmetric single tower cable-stayed bridge under strong earthquake, based on the philosophy of force and displacement balance, a seismic design system using a cable sliding friction aseismic ball bearing has been proposed. Based on a real single tower cable-stayed bridge, the seismic behavior of asymmetric single tower cable stayed bridges under strong earthquake has been studied. The result shows that the seismic internal forces of structure can be effectively reduced by using a cable sliding friction aseismic ball bearing. And lateral displacement of asymmetric single tower cable-stayed bridge can also be reasonably controlled according to the seismic responses of its substructure.
