Abstract

In order to research the damage and fracture mechanism of rock considering seepage pressure, triaxial compression tests of marble without seepage pressure and with seepage pressure have been carried out. The test results show that owing to the existence of seepage water pressure, rock peak strength and residual strength are greatly reduced. The brittleness is increased and the mechanical properties of rock mass are weakened. Based on the experimental results, the crack extension rules under seepage pressure are obtained by theoretical derivation. The relationship between seepage pressure, principal stress ratio, friction angle, native crack angle and propagation angle of wing crack is analyzed. It is concluded that propagation angle θ increases with the increase of p/σ1, decreases with increase of crack angle slowly.
