Abstract

Aim : This study aims to examine teachers’ life satisfaction levels and attitudes towards leisure time according to some variables and to determine the relationship between them. Method: The study group in the descriptive research model consists of 161 female and 110 male 271 teachers who work at educational institutions ( Primary school, second school: and high school) in the Ministry of Education in Sakarya province. The data collection tools used in this study are ''self-description form'', ''Life Satisfaction Scale'' and ''Leisure Time Attitude Scale''. The statistical analyses are carried out using the SPSS 20 statistical packaged software). Results :The results of the study showed that variables marital status and gender level of education teachers significantly affected their life satisfaction level whereas variables such as age and economic level didn’t make any marked difference. Conclusion: In this study, it has been concluded that teachers' attitudes towards leisure time differ significantly in the 'Cognitive' and 'Behavioral' sub-dimensions in terms of gender variable and in the 'Cognitive' sub-dimensions in terms of marital status variable. Correlation coefficients between the points obtained from LSS and LTAS showed that there was a positively low relationship between the life satisfaction levels of teachers and their attitudes towards leisure time.
