Abstract

Retinal pigment tear (RPE) is a very rare complication of glaucoma filtering surgeries. The right eye of a 65-year-old woman underwent an Ex-Press shunt implantation to treat uncontrolled primary open-angle glaucoma. On day 3, the intraocular pressure (IOP) was 5 mmHg with an over-filtering bleb. Wide-field fundus color and autofluorescence images showed peripheral choroidal detachment, RPE detachment (arrow), RPE tear, and macula-off exudative retinal detachment (Fig A-B). Additional sutures were placed on the scleral flap to achieve an increase in IOP.
