Abstract
Myoelectric activity and digesta turnover was measured in the forestomach of steers adapted to diets varying in proportions of hay and concentrates. Frequencies of reticular spike bursts were positively related to turnover rates of liquid rumen digesta. Variations in these processes were induced by changes in diet composition.
