Abstract

In the present era of globalization, Indian management education is realigning itself with global trends, striving for academic excellence to achieve a spiritual vision of life. The gruelling atmosphere of the academics coupled with fading relationships among faculties and students specifies that educators crave for both significance and sense of community at the workplace. There is an urgent need to rethink management education system in India that comprises teaching professionals who instil interconnectedness, empathy and compassion among students and cultivate meaningful relationships with peers at the academic workplace. In the present chapter, I have borrowed lessons from the work of Swami Vivekananda, who believed that education is the way by which lack of knowledge is replaced by intelligence and spiritual wisdom.
