Abstract
The crux of data protection is the reassurance that the wall of protection we have built around our personal information remains intact and that whoever wishes to get through those walls must approach us, first and seek our permission to use our data for the purpose(s) only of which we give them permission. In Nigeria, data protection is a very significant issue; partly because the public is not well educated on its importance and majorly because specific and comprehensive legal frameworks to better the nation’s data space is absent and all these combined is a threat to most bilateral relationship between Nigeria and other nations. This discourse becomes very important following the diverse threats to the Data Protection space in Nigeria and the adverse effects of these on Nigeria. It is significant to consider feasible solutions to these threats, for the ultimate gain of all sectors in Nigeria.
