Abstract
Background: In a standalone specialist eye hospital without acute medical or intensive care, ambulatory patients may suffer from cardiac arrests in an unpredictable manner akin to out-of-hospital events. The level of resuscitation care expected by the public at such a hospital is no lower than at other types of hospital; national guidance recommends that all hospital staff should have some level of training.
