Abstract

The majority of babies are prepared for and cope well with labour. However, a number of babies are born in poor condition and require specialist care immediately. Every baby should have access to a trained resuscitator. Everyone involved in the delivery of babies should be able to contribute to resuscitation. In recent years, common ideas on theory and practice have been set out in the Neonatal Life Support course.
