Abstract

Information on the round-robin clinical cardiological test INVEST (International Verapamil SR/Trandolapril Study) involving 15 countries and 22756 patients with hypertension against the background of ischemic (coronary) heart disease is presented. The efficacy of combined hypotensive therapy using a combined TARKA preparation (and its components verapamil and trandolapril) was studied in comparison with the conventional β-blocker (gold standard) therapy. The test results show that use of the combined drug is advantageous versus the administration of separate components.
