Abstract

AbstractOne of the most cost-effective ways to increase crop yields is to use new varieties. It is the selection that makes it possible to resolve the issue with the range of varieties that will maximally meet the requirements of farmers. For each region, its own varieties, adapted to weather and climatic conditions, should be proposed accordingly. For the Amur Region, spring barley is one of the main grain fodder crops. At the moment, the State Register of Breeding Achievements contains 6 varieties admitted to cultivation in the Amur fields, and only two of them are the varieties of own selection. Breeding work needs to be continued to increase the number of local varieties. The article presents data on the number of crossbreeding combinations carried out in the research laboratory of the Far Eastern State Agrarian University during the period from 2010 to 2020. During the study period, a total of 112 varieties were used as parents, of which 62.5% were domestic breeding; 25.9% of foreign selection and 11.6% of the Near Abroad countries. Among the Near Abroad countries, Ukrainian varieties are of the greatest interest. About 500 combinations of crosses have been carried out. A variety from competitive variety trials, which is currently the most promising, is under development. The hybrid grain of this sample was obtained by crossing the Acha and Sh-2178 varieties in 2010.KeywordsSpring barleyGradeGrade sampleHybridizationIndividual selectionProductivity
