Abstract

Results of searches for a new heavy boson Z* performed by the ATLAS Dubna team are presented. They are based upon an analysis of events with two oppositely charged muons in the final state collected by the ATLAS detector in 2012 in proton-proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider with a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV and integral luminosity of 20 fb−1. A statistical confidence for the hypotheses of existence of Z*-type resonances with various masses and cross sections is studied. Experimental data are observed to be in good agreement with Standard Model predictions. New experimental limits on the mass and cross section of Z* resonance are derived.
