Abstract
The paper presents new results of measurements of the characteristics of the universal similarity function. In the Monin- Obukhov similarity theory, this function (depending on the value of its argument – the Monin-Obukhov number) sets the type of temperature stratification of a turbulent atmosphere. Experimental coefficients in the asymptotic dependencies of the function φ(ζ) are presented for the regions of unstable and stable stratifications, respectively. Our measurements confirm the type of similarity function formulated for it in the traditional Monin-Obukhov similarity theory. The differences of coefficients registered by us for the same degree dependences (corresponding to stable and unstable stratifications) are within the limits of measurement errors. The complex studies of the similarity function performed in this paper (based on our 2018-2019 measurements) can be considered as a new significant result in the Monin-Obukhov similarity theory.
