Abstract

Background: Evaluation the feasibility, safety and effectiveness of laparoscopic total gastrectomy with lymphadenectomy for gastric cancer. Materials and Methods: A prospective descriptive study of 45 patients with gastric adenocarcinoma underwent laparoscopic total gastrectomy at Hue Central Hospital and Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital between January 2019 and February 2022. Results: The mean age was 56.9 ± 12.5 years. The male/female ratio was 1.04/1. 57.8% of patients had ASA 2. 46.7% of tumor was at the middle part of stomach. The percent of patients with tumors at stage IIIA was 24.4%. Poor differentiated tumor had the percent of 37.8%, 17.8% of patients had signet ring cell carcinoma. The average operation time was 219.6 ± 68.7 minutes. The mean blood loss was 441.4 ± 426.3 ml. The average number of dissected lymph nodes was 17.1 ± 9.3. 22.2% of patients had complications, the percent of Clavien-Dindo grade III complications was 8,9%. The length of post-operative was 11.6 ± 3.7 days. The overall survival time was 35.4 ± 2.6 months. 1-, 2-, 3- and 4-years overall survival rates were 91.1%, 70.3%, 59.9% và 52.4%. Conclusion: Laparoscopic total gastrectomy with lymphadenectomy for gastric cancer appears to be a safe, feasible and effective procedure. Key words: gastric cancer, laparoscopic, total gastrectomy.
