Abstract

The study aimed to conduct a comparative analysis of the daily heart rate and the variability of blood pressure values among a sample of adolescents diagnosed with hypertension. The study was conducted in 2017–2020 in Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) and enrolled 303 patients aged 14.9 ± 2.7 years, on average. In Group 1 (103 patients), a hypertension time index was up to 25%, that in Group 2 (99 patients) amounted to up to 50%, and Group 3 (101 patients) has a hypertension time index of over 50%. Heart rate and blood pressure of systole and diastole were measured during daily monitoring. Systolic blood pressure level for the variation coefficient of systolic blood pressure during night sleep in adolescents from Group 3 was lower than in patients from the other two groups (p ≤ 0.05). At the same time, a decrease in the blood pressure level was observed in all groups during the night compared with the day and daily levels (p ≤ 0.01). Timely prophylactic measures and correction of blood pressure indicators allow preventing the development of arterial hypertension into more severe forms, which can result in diseases of the cardiovascular system.
