Abstract

The enigmatic machaeridians suffer from a confusing taxonomic situation caused by lack of study and hence also understanding of the structure and arrangement of articulated specimens. Here, Lepidocoleus jamesi (Hall & Whitfield, 1875), the type species of the genus Lepidocoleus Faber, 1886, is re-described and re-illustrated with emphasis on articulated specimens from the Cincinnatian (Upper Ordovician) of Ohio State.
