Abstract
Governments have implemented policies to curb the spread of SARS-CoV-2 at various points of the pandemic. Such measures have often been perceived as beneficial for public health but detrimental to mental health1 and evidence indicates that lockdowns have had an adverse effect on mental health.2 However, minimising the spread of SARS-CoV-2 might also have positive impacts on mental health by reducing anxiety about contracting the virus and decreasing death rates. Additionally, contracting COVID-19 has been associated with an increased risk of psychiatric disorders.
