Abstract

The impedance of an electrode at which restricted diffusion occurs has been derived using the appropriate boundary conditions for the diffusion equation. Experimentally it has been found that the impedance expression fitted the data obtained from 1 Hz to 0.1 MHz with an accuracy better than 1% for a system consisting of a hydrogen phthalocyanine thin layer, deposited on gold, in contact with a 5 M KOH solution, saturated with O 2 or with an inert gas. Comparison of the data with the theoretical expressions has given the density of minority carriers, their diffusion coefficient and the kinetic constants of the coupled homogeneous chemical reaction, occurring in the film.
