Abstract

The RESTRAX combines the user interface of the RESCAL program, based on the commonly used formalism of Cooper and Nathans, with the more recent TRAX code, employing the transfer matrix formalism, and with newly developed Monte Carlo (MC) ray-tracing simulation procedures. These resolution calculation techniques are complemented by a fast MC algorithm, which calculates the convolution between the resolution function and the S( Q, ω) of an arbitrarily curved phonon dispersion sheet so that Q = const. scan profiles can be simulated interactively and used for direct fitting.
