Abstract

efited. Historic metal truss bridges are a craftsman’s record. If one reads a bridge carefully, much can be learned about the manufacturing processes used in its construction. Mr. Randolph has been a strong advocate of in-kind restoration of the historic bridges for the park, repairing and restoring each bridge by using the same materials and the same manufacturing techniques that were used when it was originally built. The metal truss bridges designated for the Historic Bridge Park are made up primarily of I-beams, channels, square bars, plate, and in the case of pin-connected bridges, eyebars.
