Abstract

Piezoelectric cylindrical underwater transducer is commonly used for underwater acoustic applications, which mostly exploit the breathing mode of vibration. Piezoelectric cylindrical transducer was studied with finite element method in the paper. Then, the finite element modal of transducer was set up with ANSYS software and the structure of the transducer was optimized. A broadband directivity cylindrical underwater transducer was designed, which used the composite excitation, breathing mode and dipole mode of vibration. The bandwidth of transducer is 15 kHz-30 kHz, which the ripple of the transmitting voltage response does not exceed plusmn3 dB and the transducer has the good heart-type directivity.
