Abstract

This research aims to analyze benefits gained by carrying workers, and how gender responsiveness in the activities of the Sekolah Buruh Gendong operated by Yayasan Annisa Swasti (Yasanti). The research method used was descriptive qualitative with Longwe analysis technique. The result of the research showed that the leadership school of the workers has provided the benefit of structured access to education for 25 women workers, so that this activity increases the capacity of the carrying workers. Through Langwe's analytical techniques, the upgrading of the carrying women capacity has led to a critical awareness and participation of the carrying workers about their existence, both as a woman and as a worker. Critical awareness creates courage to speak so that they can hold an audience with members of the Yogyakarta City House of Representatives and two (2) workers have became the paralegal representatives in LBH (Legal Aid Institute). However, the school activities have not guaranteed the carrying workers’ economic welfare and also have no control over health insurance or social protection.Keywords: Gender Responsiveness, Longwe Analysis, and Yasanti
