Abstract

The authors of the preceding paper do not acknowledge that the choice for the arbitrary zero of time made by Olkhovsky and Recami (OR) is different from mine. My time parameter t is related to theirs by t = t OR + t 0 where t 0 is the finite length of time taken for the centroid of the incident wave function prepared at t = 0 (i.e., at t OR = − t 0 < 0) to propagate freely in the absence of a barrier to z = 0. Their major critisicm is consequently unjustified given my prescription for choosing the parameters of the initial ( t = 0) wave packet. Moreover, contrary to their claims. I did not cut off the initial gaussian wave packet at z = 0. For these and other reasons I see no need to alter my previous conclusions concerning the review article by Olkhovsky and Recami.
