Abstract

Abstract This short response to the chapters in the preceding section on 'Erasures and Exclusions' emphasizes how the 'archival turn' has made us more aware of the silences and lacunae in archives and the way this reflects power relations. The response reviews how the chapters in 'Erasures and Exclusions' add to our understanding of absences in the archive and urges further probing of these silences as part of a mission to democratize and pluralize archives.
