Abstract

This article is a response to the comments, in the symposium on Artefacts of Legal Inquiry (2020), of Desmond Manderson and Emily Kidd White. In response to those comments, the article addresses four themes: (1) writing and reading theory; (2) the politics of legal language and legal reasoning; (3) the ethics of legal reasoning and the value of imagining; and 4) relating law, history and power.
