Abstract
Response to "Comment on 'Effect of Mercury Exposure on Renal Function and Hematological Parameters among Artisanal and Small-scale Gold Miners at Sekotong, West Lombok, Indonesia'".
Highlights
In the three little villages where this research was conducted there is one standard health care center
We found that about 7% of miners showed gingivitis, and only two of the miners from this 7% used dental amalgam.[1]
Sekotong is the first artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) area in West Nusa Tenggara Province, Indonesia, where mercury is used as a chemical binding to recover gold, dating from mid-2009
Summary
In the three little villages where this research was conducted there is one standard health care center. Due to the anamnestic procedures we used, we are sure that no miners had a history of radiologic procedures. We found that about 7% of miners showed gingivitis, and only two of the miners from this 7% used dental amalgam.[1] As a result, these data were too small to affect the research data, and it can be said that the dental amalgam filling factors did not affect our research findings.
