Abstract

The Dillenburger and Keenan article, Bereavement: A behavioural process, is a solid contribution to the behavior analytic bereavement literature. The article looked at the effect of bereavement on widows and raised many questions. This response looks at some of the areas we need to investigate. It includes comments on the frequency and growth of violence in Northern Ireland contrasted the United States, on discriminative stimuli and their role in post traumatic stress disorder, plus additional information on people’s reactions to the death of a family member, and incidents about suicide thoughts or behaviors. It concludes with some suggestions for healing using therapeutic behavioral techniques.
