Abstract

In the present study, an analytical solution is presented to analysis dynamic behavior of FG (functionally graded) thick hollow sphere subjected to thermo-mechanical timed dependent loads. Thermo-elastic properties of FG, except for Poisson's ratio, are assumed to vary continuously and smoothly in the radial direction according to power law. Differential transform method (DTM) and Laplace transform method as efficient and accurate methods are used to solve the governing equations analytically for spatial domain and time domain respectively. Comprehensive parametric studies are carried out to show the influences of the power index, thickness and direction of FGM on the dynamic characteristics of the FG thick hollow sphere. The results in Laplace domain are transferred to time domain by employing the fast inverse Laplace transform (FLIT) method. Accuracy of present approach is assessed by comparing the numerical results with the results of published work in the literature.
