Abstract

This work investigates the fluid oscillation characteristics of swirlmeter in oscillatory flow. Experiments were performed to study the fluid oscillation characteristics of a diameter 50 mm swirlmeter in oscillatory and steady flows. The velocity pressure of vortex precession in the swirlmeter was obtained by using two axisymmetrical setting piezoelectric press sensors. The major findings are as follows. (a) The energy dissipation phenomenon in the fluid attenuates the vortex precession and reduces the lower limit of swirlmeter. (b) The correlation between the velocity pressures of the fluid disturbance wave and that of vortex precession in swirlmeter is linear.
