Abstract

Field tests were made with piperitone, pulegone, menthone, and 3-methylcyclohexanone, 4 analogues of 3-methyl-2-cyclohexen-1-one (MCH), an antiattractive pheromone of Dendractonus pseudotsugae Hopkins. These analogues demonstrated significant inhibition of Douglas fır beetle attraction to female-infested logs as well as to synthetic attractive pheromones.
